Day #10 – Sunday

Day #10: Sunday

Thank God for Sundays. Whether you love your work or you don’t, Sundays are still the most important day of the week. That’s the day you get to rest, repair, review, relax, restore and ruminate on the week gone by. As well as plan, propose and prepare for the week ahead.

Whether you love your work or you don’t, Sundays are still the most important day of the week. That’s the day you get to rest, repair, review, relax, restore and ruminate on the week gone by. As well as plan, propose and prepare for the week ahead.

If you don’t get to pause for a day, your life goes by in a tumult of activity without any idea of  whether you are going where you are meant to go and achieving what you set out to achieve. Don’t skip on resting on a Sunday. Whatever activity you like or must do, if you don’t pause and continue, the activity itself will consume and destroy you. Take for example the most common activity that you do, breathing. If you continue endlessly to breathing in the air without a break, it will kill you. Or if you continuously let out the air without a break can also end up with the same result. In, pause, out, pause, in ….is the way to go. The pause is your Sunday.

Don’t give your Sunday a miss, because the next Sunday may decide to give you a miss.

So what can we do on a Sunday?

I love Sundays. I need not shave. I can lounge in my bed clothes for hours on end. I allow my family to sleep as long as they want, so I get much more than an hour alone in the morning.  I don’t have to make a plan for the day. I can just do everything else that I don’t do on other days. My phone can be put off.  No emails. No messages. Silence. Laughter. Time with loved ones.  Longer walks with my dog. Commune with my creator. Perhaps attend mass in the Church and sing along with the choir. Anything goes. No rules. Look back on the past week. Do your accounts if needed. But don’t set up work meetings and continue what you have been doing the whole week.

Everyone needs to reward themselves with a day of rest. If it is not a Sunday, pick any other day but pause your life for that day and do things that you don’t get to do on other days.

What would you do on a Sunday if you can pause your work life that day?

Make your list. Go do as many of them as possible.

Have a blissful Sunday

  1. Need to put this in practice. I tend to have the same schedule that I have for weekdays. Also apply my yardstick to my other members of family. Will implement this first.
